Mother 3

Pre-Game:

Hey everyone, it has been awhile since my last blog.  A lot of you took part in the poll I did for coming back from my break.  For those of you that didn't know I run a poll every so often to see what you guys want to see me play then I pick 3, usually them most popular choices and 1 I want to do myself, take a poll and whoever wins gets a review done by me.

First off I want to give a big thank you to everyone on Facebook who do read and keep up on the blog, to those of you that like and participate in the polls I really appreciate your enthusiasm.  It makes doing this a lot  of fun especially knowing you guys are excited to see what I come up with.

So Mother 3 takes place on a place called "Nowhere Islands" and you play as a young boy named Lucas.  I have actually played this game before and this is my 3rd time playing it.  The reason why I included this game into the poll was simple.  Im trying something new and because of that I picked 2 games that were very familiar to me and 1 that people wanted me to play.  Mother 3 just happened to win which is great for me and great for you guys since so many of you wanted to see it played.

So normally I go into this long pre-game review but it doesn't apply here.  However I will suggest that if you did play Earthbound, play Mother 3.

I will go more in depth when this is all said and done.  Now I know you guys have been waiting to see what my new little twist for you is and, its this.

Part 1

and Part 2

Yes thats right my friends.  My surprise for you was recording what Im playing and letting see all the wonder, frustration and joy happening at once.  I do apologize in advance though, this was my first attempt at doing anything like this.  I lost video in a few spots and for some reason some of the game audio lags.  So hopefully going forward with this I wont have to many more problems.  Also I am limited to 15 minutes per video by youtube but if you do like what Im doing and want me to continue please favorite, share, thumbs up and like the videos!

Please feel free to post your opinions and suggestions below, send them via twitter or facebook as well.  Thank you everyone and I hope you like this like little taste of whats to come!(as long as people enjoy it anyways, otherwise I probably won't make another part.)

New Poll Coming....

Ladies and Gentlemen it has been a very long time since my last review.  I have been extremely busy with school and work lately but I am proud to tell you that the wait is over.  Next week I will release the 3rd poll for everyone to cast their votes and see who will be played next for my next review but not only that I will be adding something new to the review.  If it goes over well with you guys it will become a normal thing.

So your option for the poll are as follows.

and the mystery challenger that was reviled earlier on my facebook and twitter....

Voting will go up sometime next week and will last till Friday so vote for your favorite!  I look forward to showing you guys my new little idea for spicing up the blogs!

Games, games, games.

So as many of you know I finished Legacy of Kain...THANK GOD!!

But Chukkaque you haven't had a poll or anything in a couple of weeks, whats going on?

Well let's fill this void with some knowledge.

Since I finished Legacy of Kain and literally wanted to drown myself afterwards, I decided to take a minor break.  Legacy of Kain took me awhile to finish and I put in a lot more work than I did for Skyrim.(In a rough comparison anyways).  So as you noticed through the last play I revised somethings.

Which I'll explain later.

What I've been doing is playing a couple games and will give my quick review of the titles.

THEATRYTHM FINAL FANTASY 3DS:

I was really hesitant to get this game because I really didn't like the art style...example.

But honestly it's a pretty great game and I know "But it's a final fantasy rhythm game, I don't get it!" I didn't at first either.

Game play:

It plays a lot like Elite Beat Agents tapping, sliding and flicking in directions along with the music.  There are 3 basic music styles, Field, Battle, and event.

Field:

In the field stages you typically play an overworld theme and your character runs along a path showing familiar areas from said game's song.  You can run across moogles who give you treasure, run into unlockable characters who also give you items and call chocbos to run farther in the stage.  Sounds simple enough, but that's where your stats and abilities come in.  You have roughly 2-3 1/2 minutes to get as far as you can in the stage.  So your Speed stat effects that and it changes for every character.  Not only that but you'll need higher luck to increase the chance of people appearing and to increase drop rates for rare items you'll want later.

Battle:

Essentially mock battles your party(four characters you select at the start of the game that can be changed at any time) fall into a traditional 4 person battle party.  Each character has a lane that notes will come down.  Each time you get a good or better your character will attack the enemy on screen and when its defeated another will show up to take its place.  Now this is where Strength, Magic, and Luck all play a part.  The stronger you are, the more enemies you will kill, same with Magic when its executed.  As they die you'll want more luck to increase their drop rate and rare drop rate.  When your HP hits 0 its Game Over.  Much like the ability to call Chocobos you can also call summons in battle.

Event:

In Event mode you will play a song along with mashed together sceens/cut sceens from the game.  Above we have Final Fantasy VIII.  In this mode your courser moves from note to note and you have to perform the actions as it hovers over them.  Much like calling chocobos and summoning aeons/espers/etc in battle, you can enter an extended version of each Event mode.

There are other things in the game such as Dark Notes/Chaos Shrine in which you unlock notes from street pass or the one they give you in the game and every time you complete it you will get another note.  This is the main way to unlock hidden characters from the other FF titles.

There is also Challenge which allows you to play unlocked songs from Series mode or when you get enough Rhythmia(rm) points you can unlock bonus songs that are not part of Series mode.  They also have a very detailed Records sections and many trophies to unlock.

The thing though is if you're not a huge Final Fantasy fan or crazy into rhythm games, this probably is not the game for you.  I love rhythm games and love Final Fantasy so this game is ideal for me, but it is a lot of fun, the songs get very challenging, I've clocked over 40 hours and have 60,000+ rm, but thats just me!

Final Fantasy V:

I am very aware how long this game has been out, but I never finished it.  I only ever made it to the earth crystal place.  However I am about 15 hours into this game and I forgot how tough older games can be.  They give you almost no direction and you have to find out where to go on your own.  Theres no narrator to help you either, you have to find hints throughout random NPCs.  I keep thinking Im almost done but I never am.  Spoiler ALERT!!!!  I am in the sacred wood that X-Death starts on fire.  Well Im about to fight those sacred beasts that guard the inside of it anyway.  Was totally not expecting them to cast Fire3 on me over and over again half way through the fight.

Shadow Hearts 2:

This is a sequel from the first Shadow Hearts.  It takes place about 1 1/2 years after the first one.  The battle system is much smoother than it was in the first game and it still takes place in Europe for the most part.  Im only about 10 hours into this but it feels a lot like the first one, especially since you start the game seeing Yuri(main character in this game and the last game) in one of his very final Fusions.(Fusions are an ability Yuri has where he can transform into various creatures after collecting enough souls)  But something happens story wise that makes him start over.  Classic RPG mechanic *cough*Kingdom Hearts...

But this is about it on my end.  Im planning on playing a couple other games soon FFIV and FFIII DS remakes are on my to do list, but I also have Xenosaga II to play as well.  Once I finish FFV though I think I'll start another poll to see what you guys wanna see.  Until then, thanks for reading everyone!

Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver

Intro/pre-game:

Okay so I have no idea why damn near the entire community wanted me to play Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver so bad, but it won the recommendation and the poll for this week.

This week the poll was between:

Legacy of Kain(LK)
Dark Souls(DS)
Dark Cloud(DC)

I had 4 votes for LK, 1 for DC and nothing for DS in fact all I got for that was me being told to wait for it to come to PC soon on on Aug. 24th, his birthday, so shout out to you, happy early birthday!

Anyways, what was so effing weird was everyone I talked to even work and real life friends were all like
"Yeah legacy of kain, great game."

Now that they realize Im going to be playing it they are like...
"NO DON'T FUCKING PLAY IT!"
"That game did not age well."
"WHY!?"
"Seriously? Instead of DC? You're going to want to kill yourself."
"No change the vote, play bioshock!!"
"Eh fuck it, play it, I want to see your reaction."

and I couldn't even say anything, it was such a drastic change of opinion...but okay, what the hell ever.

So I did a little research on this great/terrible game Im about to play.

It was developed by a company called Silicon Knights and it was published by a company called Crystal Dynamics, but after the first one they went into some kind of lawsuit or something, I don't really remember or care, you can read the article here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legacy_Of_Kain

But anyways, apparently this is some kind of action/puzzle game, alright sounds okay so far, doesn't sound effing gay or whatever.  In Soul Reaver I play as some dude named Raziel, alright thats a pretty fucking cool sounding name, I like it so far. So Im going to play an action/puzzle game with the name Raziel, sounds like I'll be able to do some cool shit.  Punch someone through a wall, fly, who the hell knows, I don't.  I mean seriously, scroll back up and look at that picture.  If that is who I am playing in this game, Im gonna be one serious bad ass! Seriously look at that dope face covering, and I have fucking claws for hands!  I hope I can rip someone's heart of throat out, and that sweet ass cap!  HELLS YEAH I am seriously pumped to try this damn thing!

But that's about the point when I read something I really wasn't happy to frickin read.
"You're the son of Kain, a gay ass fucking vampire."
What...Im a gay ass fucking douchey vampire?  What the fuck!?  I don't wanna play another over played unoriginal gay ass game where I'm another stupid vampire.  I was not happy to read that and I actually stopped reading the wiki article as soon as I read that.

This is something I don't know if many know about me.  I hate zombies, vampires, etc you know the generic overly used BS that society fucking drools, shoot me in the head, seriously.

However, I will give credit where credit is deserved, last summer I was forced to play Resident Evil for the first time and I'll admit, it was pretty dope!  I really liked it a lot.  Enough in fact to immediately play it again with this friend and get almost to the second disc(was playing RE1 on GCN) without saving.

Anyways, because of that fact I will give you the community the benefit of the doubt.  I am going into this knowing the game is a "gay ass vampire shoot me in the damn head, I seriously can't believe Im going to play another fucking vampire game, kill me" game.  I also know it apparently has not aged very well since its release, but I will try to be open minded.

And this time, I promise more screen shots.

1st hour:

Alright so I got the first hour started and so far I've always taken a screen shot of the title screen, so here we are.

I thought this was a pretty creepy title screen, not only that...what the crap is with all that empty black space!?  Seriously, I only have 2 frickin options, what did you give me room for like 10 more options?  I don't get it.  But the statues faces do change randomly.

Anyways as the game started I learned that this is Raziel

So...neat I guess.  I think I look like a fruit but that is a pretty cool shoulder pad!  But turns out, my dad Kain isn't a super big fan of me or something and tears my wings off and tosses me into some vortex of death or something.  So I was brought back to life? Sorta into this.
Alright!  Im looking pretty good!  Lookin cool and evil, I like it....but wait a second....
....what.  Can we compare pictures here please.  Just a second ago I was BLUE/GRAY with BLUE eyes and TAN Wraps around my arms, I also didn't have weird Sephiroth like spiky bangs coming out of my head.  But now I have gross gray skin, dead brown wrapping and black hair not only that but I have weird white eyes, not bad ass blue eyes!  This is a rip off!!

Seriously who do they think they are, Squaresoft(now known as Squarenix)!?  I haven't art this confusing since Final Fantasy VI with my main man Locke Cole, don't believe me!?
See, original art.  Now I get what you might say, this is original art so it's subject to change...fair enough.

I blew it up a little for you, but look at this.  The bandana style is similar but the colors are a lot different, has red earrings and a blue jacket.

Now here is his sprite for the actual game...he wears a normal bandana, it doesn't cover his head!  Plus his jean jacket is now sleeveless and wears brown boots and gloves, not a wristband and white boots.  I love FFVI and its one of my favorite games, but this always blew my mind....well whatever.

But I was messing around and discovered these few abilities.
I have cool dead wings, that actually sorta work.
Apparently stealthing exists in this game.
What the hell am I doing?  Does Raziel think he is a dead Kirby?
Also I guess I slide pretty far when I punch thats....logically...?

So as I progressed this dead place, I found out I died and had my spirit put back into my body and now Im supposed to be some angel of death and devour souls.  Im supposed to get "revenge" against my brothers/family.

I also found these.
Supposedly this is some kind of warp...likes like a puddle to me.
I have no idea what this weirdo thing is, looks like a shire to me...with mirrors.
I happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.  This is where I discovered that even though Im a devourer now since Im still new I still have my old vampire weakness, well at least Im not a fairy any more, just have the same weakness as a gay fairy....balls.  Also these nerds are apparently my "brothers" or something...I don't see it.
So, since we are "brothers" enjoy the sunlight fags...ps it didn't hurt me, why?  Cause Im not a flaming fagpire any more.
Turns out, that weird wind waker like symbol in the corner is my health gauge...its original I guess.  I Devour souls of the dead to heal myself.
This is that vortex thing they tossed me into when I was still a flaming fairy.

So the game has been kinda neat so far I can pick up weapons and chuck them at people.  I do like being able to press R1 to face the enemy right away.  Plus I get to do something cool like this...

This is that cool spear I was talking about.
Check it out, I impaled this nerd!
Here I hurled it through his chest heh, hes dying now.
I thought this was hilarious, you can see the same thing 2 pictures up, the guy on the left, just stood their while I impaled his homie and we both watched him die.  It was a special moment.  But then this happened...
Oops, I accidentally dropped my spear...in your neck.

So the game so far is pretty cool mechanic wise and the story seems legit.  But its really open world, and I mean really open world.  Its like Im playing Metroid and can go anywhere I want...I literally am not even sure where to go.  Eventually I was jumped by these guys.

Well this guy was jumped first.  I watched him die from the window, then I came down....HEY!  I was observing my foes before putting myself in a dangerous situation yeah...thats it....
These are the guys I was watching.  Douchey vampire weirdos.  Turns out one of my brothers..Marculous or some crap(I really don't remember) is the youngest of the sons of Kain.  So he was blessed with the weakest rewards or powers or whatever.  So he passed it down to his children which are apparently these tools.
Oh yeah and I found this windy staircase, it reminded of Mario 64, but instead of Mario Im Raziel.

That;s about where I am.  Im pretty much outside the area of this place and went back to spirit land.  Thats about how far I got in 1 hour.  Don't worry, there will be more to come either tomorrow or monday, stay tuned!
2nd hour:

Alright so im starting again.  Last time I was totally lost and had no idea where to go, so if I can't figure it out after like 20 minutes Im just going to look it up.  I don't feel like spending all 8 hours lost.

Oh what the hell!?  I saved on the over world map and it frickin loads me at the damn start of the game!  What the hell am I playing here Zelda?
But even worse, because on the newer Zelda games they at least start you at save point or the start of the are you last entered.  Nope, not this game, start me fucking over at the start of the damn game!  It took me like 20 minutes to run over to the place I saved...balls!

Oh hells yeah!  I forgot about these things, Im really glad they exist now.  Saves me the trouble of walking all the way over there...AGAIN!  I don't get why these guys didn't incorperate postion saves, or save points.  But whatever.

There is one other thing I want to point out.

You can't change the camera really.  You can rotate it around yourself but sometimes it'd be really nice to zoom out some.  It's not major but it really bugs me and it'd be really helpful when I get stuck fighting more than one enemy.

I also didn't mention last time, but my character can throw enemies with Triangle, I didnt really find a use for it so I didn't post about it...but now...

Now I know what its for.  Where was the tutorial for this damn game!?  The only problem is, I apparently got really lucky with that toss.  This is such a joke.  I seriously want to stab myself right now.  I think I wasted 10 minutes in here attempting to throw a guy into a spike, this is like a specific science and if you're even a fraction off, or facing the wrong or not throwing the damn enemy dead on to the object, its just not happening.

And just so you guys know...

This is how I get back to the physical world.  I have to find these stupid purple/blue portals and twice my hands around like a damn fairy!  Im a dead soul reaving ex vampire...yet my means of returning to the world...is dancing like a fucking fairy, Im not making this up guys, I COULDNT MAKE THIS UP!!

And these Jack asses just waited for me to come back.  The douche in the back is just healing from the blood that I tore out of his body, this game is designed to make me kill myself!
Okay forget this Im going to look it up...

WHAT!?!?!?!?  The community gave this game a 8.3!?  Im thinking a 6, at the very most you've gotta be kidding me!?  Who the hell even beat this game...

yeah I fucking agree with this guy!  Ive only played this game for about an hour and a half but I want to throw it out the window.  Im lost, the controls are touchy, I can't zoom out on my camera, there is no source of direction, this is Frusttraging, repetitive and definitely boring!  Digitek_X you got it right my friend!

Alright at the bottom of the walkthrough it states I cannot post it anywhere else so I assume that means I can't use screen caps either.  So I won't, but credit does go to Michael Yellott for writing and producing this walk through that I am using and referencing.
Fuck yeah codes!  I'd put codes in this game too since I want to meat tenerize my brain!  But I won't use them....though very tempting...
Well lets see what it says...
....how the hell was I supposed to know that!?  This guy deserves a damn fucking medal for not only knowing where I would get stuck, but simply knowing how to do frickin do it.  Thank you Michael Yellott for having the patience to beat this game, but writing a walk through for it.

Basically Im supposed to enter the spirit world for this room im stuck in since I can't make it through it in the physical world.

So Apparently, when you enter spirit would, this wall comes out...but I KEEP FALLS OFF THANKS TO THESE DAMN OLD CONTROLS!  This will be my attempt at making it to other side of this damn room.

This where Im supposed to go but I keep falling...

Damnit!

What seriously blows is that every time I re-enter spirit land my health drops and you need full HP to go back to the physical world.  So I have to find these damn things and then find the stupid gate afterwards.

Screw you game.

Fina-frickin-ly.  I spent like half an hour trying to figure out where to go, getting through this room and moving a damn block...this game is demeaning.

UGH!  I get in this room and get locked in.  Then I get jumped my a vampire and some weird ass creature who sparkles blue.  Killed them, finally got a weapon back which really was awesome and pissed me off.  Why?  Remember when I was bitching about the whole saving thing?  Well they didn't load me with my weapon either, GAY! But now I have to push this gay boulder across the whole room....UGH!

And this jack ass just respawned!!!

And now im dead.....UGH!!  Oh and if you're curious as to why this block is in the pit with me, I have to haul it over it there...couldn't just slide it, I had to push it off the ledged, drag it...

and push up there...but first I have to find that damn gate to get my physical body back...this game should not be called Legacy of Kain, it should be called Legacy of PAIN!

As you can see I moved it a ways but these tools keep RESPAWNING!  And I can't kill them more than one at a time.  If I kill one and engage the other, the old just auto respawns right away.  So I have to devour him first, but if I get hit wile trying, he stops me and I have to start over. BARF!

There finally making some progress. But look at my health bar, I just left combat and was fully healed and all Ive done is life this block twice....

Look at this.  Im a trying to move the boulder backwards but can't because I can't step up on that ledge....even in Zelda when you move blocks bigger than you it realizes you can step up on steps......I dont even....

And once again...I finally finished the same door puzzle in more annoying and complex manner...

So...this game isn't bad.  I know it might sound like I hate, but it's alright.  Some of the things this game is lacking is a little frustrating.  Anyways see that platform over there.  So apparently in this room I had to jump on one in the physical world, go to spirit land where time doesn't flow at all.  Run back up there...

and hop across in the spirit world...cool idea, but a little intro earlier about this would've been useful.  All the guy said was, you can go to spirit land whenever you want.  frustrating....
\
Alright now that Im understanding this game more the puzzles are getting easier.  On the other side of the was an identical spot as the one to the left.  But this block next me was on top of another one so I push it off and the other locked right into place.  But this one won't why you ask?  Simple.

Just have to flip it over in the right way and push it in....thats what she said.

After that I left the room and came back out into the area where I was jumping across...goody.  But I pushed a block off the ledge that was there onto the old block I left at the bottom.  Now I have a stack of blocks...great.  You know right now without the help of this guide I'd feel like they did they did in Red vs Blue. "So we've got 2 bases in 1 boxed canyon, whoopdy fuckin do." Yeah thats how I feel  about these blocks on top of one another....but turns out if I climb them....

And we finally made it up here.  But that's the it for this 2nd Hour.  Next time we delve further.

I know what you're thinking.  "You've hardly made any progress, theres no way that was another hour."
Well my friend typically I would agree with you...but sadly that tiny amount of progress did take me an hour...and I even needed a walk through to get me that far...it is not a proud moment for me...WHATEVER fuck you legacy of GAY!  This game is a jackass...but it's alright so far.

3rd hour:

So I've been talking with a couple readers IRL about the amount of time and work that goes into these now thanks to all the screen shots and what not and I've come to the conclusion that depending on the game, the blog will change.  For a game like Skyrim that is actually massive, I'll imploy around 8 hours, but with games like Legacy of Kain I don't need 8 hours to get an opinion, 4 would work.  So here on out I'll be doing about 4 hours depending on game of course.

As always though readers, thank you so much reading, tweeting, liking, and +1'ing the blog, I greatly appreciate all the support and seriously thank all of you for reading this.  You guys make it fun!

You know I still can't get over this. Im sick of starting over at the frigin start of the game every time I boot up.  I don't care if I can teleport around the world!  It isn't that hard to program in something better, save point, variable that remembers placement ugh....

Yes believe it, it took me about 10 minutes to get back to this place.  The totally lack of direction is frustrating.

I make it out of that spiral tunneljust to get jumped, so I tossed that tool into the lake...but Im not too happy there is water here either...it auto kills me....

You know, I've been in this game for almost 3 hours, and this is the first "house" like structure I enter...and aside from that one guy I watched get killed, I haven't seen a single trace of humans or real life...does it exist in this game?  If im not defending myself Im wandering aimlessly alone....

What the hell....?

Well I turned this machine on...it was pretty random running into something like this...

Ugh...this game is doing it again...lets go to spirit world

....okay going to spirit world didnt do anything so I decided to back track and then pull this random lever sitting around and the platform in the middle of the room sank down...hmmmm

uhh so I got lost in this room and went to spirit world but couldnt find anything...than I happened to slip of into the pit and walk through a random passage....so I accidentally am headed the right way?  Who knows...

UGH I happened to find the right way and now I need to be in the physical world

Wow I happened to find it in my physical body woo!

Oh what the hell...

I...Im not even sure what to say

Okay...I have to move these fire things across these tracks...another thing I found on accident.

Everything I do for this room involves droping it lower and lower.  I pushed a switch, it fell down.  I burned some beams it fell down, what next?  I activate some switch and the platform begins hovering?

Also on a side note, I want to point that my GF just started playing Final Fantasy VI for the first time, so Im playing muted...and I'll admit, this game is way more epic with FFVI playing hahaha

Well..that looks inviting.  I also just notice that my health is almost all gone...perfect.

Of course....

This....is my brother!?  I had some eff'd up parents....

What...the...crap....

Dude hit me once and sent me to spirit world...
WHAT THE HELL!?  HE JUST TOOK A BITE OUT OF ME IN SPIRIT WORLD!!!

and now this is me dying....

I guess it's cool Im an agent and can killed...since Im beyond death...BUT ITS A REAL PAIN HAVING TO COME BACK HERE FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!

That concludes our 3rd hour...hopefully I'll actually kill him in the 4th...SINCE I HAVE TO WALK BACK!!!!

4th hour:

The 4th and final hour of Legacy of Kain, THANK GOD!  These last 3 hours have been a pain.  I am looking forward to ending this game.  Im not even sure if I'll be able to beat the boss or not.  Last hour I hit him once and he just laughed at me and than killed me....THE TOOL EVEN KILLED ME IN SPIRIT WORLD WHAT THE HELL!?

Oh well, let's get through 1 more hour together shall we?  Let's.

This is about where I would complain about having to start over...at the beginning...Im as bored of it as Im sure you are of reading it, we get it.  Im sick of starting at the beginning shut up and move on with the game...well said community.

So turns out, this stupid thing gives you hints if you stand on it...good to effing know.....

Okay 2 things:
1st, it's really impressive and cool that this game remembered that I dropped a weapon in this room to come through the gate.  The fact it does that is really awesome, Im impressed by it!
2nd: WHY THE HELL DOES THE GAME RECALL DROPPED WEAPON LOCATION BUT NOT SAVE POSITION!? SERIOUSLY!? God!

Remember that area I was standing in front of at the end of Hour 2?  Well it's not terribly long, but its really windy and the camera controls for this game don't make it easy.

So I honestly didn't know you could pick up boulders...

This room used to be full of enemies...so you're telling me the game recognizes enemies I kill and doesn't respawn a good majority of them....then why in the hell can it...not....ugh!!

Okay I am really hoping that the game remembers I dropped my weapon in here last time I fought this tool, cause...I didn't bring one with me...let'sa go!

"Welcome, brotha!" At least I get a warm welcome from the guy Im going to kill....

2 Things I want to point in this picture, the 1st is awesome it did remember I left my weapon in here.  2nd, I got hit once and thats whats left of my HP bar...OP much?

He literally just laughs at me for trying to hit him...though I would like to point out, that his laugh does not match his voice even in the slightest way...

Uh guess this thing doesn't work...Im willing to bet it conveniently works after I kill Malicia or whatever his name is.

Damnit!

Okay so I hoped through that hole, got some health and found this switch...bad news...the boss is right there and I still don't have my physical body so I'm pretty sure I can't hurt him.

...I think I just got my next great idea.

Damnit! Are you serious!? It opens the door, but not the...ugh!!!!

Uh what just happened?...apparently I can't operate the middle spike, but I can drop those sharp teeth on his head...I better jump over and start hitting him...hehehe

WOAH he just broke the thing! let's try the other gate.

Come on fatto...

Suck it NERD!

Well well well, look what just became enabled...looks like I was half right.  I didn't have to kill him, but I did have to injure him.  I think I know what this is for.

Bingo, now to just get him under there.

This is odd...usually he phazes in and out of reality or something to go through objects, but he seems to be stuck...welp guess I'll take this opportunity to...

AHEM!

Hells yeah!  Suck it!  I killed him!  But I have no idea what he told me about my other brother

Sorry bro.  You know they over use that fuzzy ball animation a lot.  Green junk, blue junk, red junk.  It's a little much.

And there is the pink and purple, but the hell did he die and then turn into valentine's day confetti?

And now hes a fluff cloud.  Im assuming Im getting some power up, hopefully wall climbing abilities.  I saw a few places for that.

Power up or Im dying...and if Im dying this blog ends right now.

You guys are lucky.  But yes I did get a power up, so apparently I can phase out of reality like that boss.

Im willing myself...why am I not going through this...

There we go, I have to be in spirit world.

Oops jumped in a lake....

Guess its a good thing I dropped down here, what is this?

"An artifact that increases my stamina." So a health upgrade?
"Collect 5 of these and..." COLLECT 5!? This game is hard enough and you want me to find 5 of these damn things!?  Forget that, Im done in like 15 minutes.

What am I finding all of a sudden?

I was supposed to come back to the clan and find a way to phase through some stuff, but I never found it.  This is where my time ran out.

FINALLY!!

Post-game:

Post game time.  Okay this game was mega frustrating.  I even needed to use a guide to make it through a part I was stuck on for almost an entire hour.  Though I do really like that once the game loads, there are no loading times, not that I noticed anyways and no screens.

The world is expansive but really empty.  After you learn about solving puzzles in Spirit World puzzles start to make a little more sense, but the lack of tutorial or any form of help with control or abilities its pretty difficult and annoying.

The world feels very empty aside from the occasional battle but even when its done the game recognizes their defeat and doesn't usually respawn them.  The graphics are decent for PS1 but the story lacks momentum.  I spent most my time lost so I couldn't get into the game.  The other thing I wasn't a fan of was the low voice acting.  Even with lowering the music, sound effects and turning up the voice I really hard time understanding conversations.

Also the controls are fairly touchy.  I slipped off a lot of ledges because of it.  I also don't like that I can move with the analog stick but its really frustrating that I can't move the camera with the R-Stick.  Not only that, I can't zoom out.  This is Resident Evil, I don't need the camera that close to my back constantly.

So like my friend said, this game did not age well.  Especially thanks to the modern gaming industry holding your hand for everything.

Review:

So I thought hard about the score I want to give this game, based on the time of its release vs the modern game day.  The world, difficulty, etc.  I decided that I will score this game...

7/10

If they ever do a remake of this game I hope they fix the above problems.  This game has the potential to be a good 9/10 game but not hearing the story because of the voice volume and lack of subtitles makes it impossible, at least for me.  Also the tutorial would be great, even if its small.

Thanks for reading everyone!  Let me know what you want to see next, what you like, what you don't like, I want to hear your feed back, so please leave a comment below or over on FB/twitter.
